St Matthew's National Support School
"St Matthew's is a successful one-form entry primary school close to the centre of Birmingham. We celebrate the diversity of our children, with nine out of ten pupils coming from minority ethnic groups and with 16 different languages spoken at home. Talk for Writing underpins our teaching and learning strategies and we are a Talk for Writing Training Centre. "
'As a National Support School we welcome opportunities to share our journey and experience with other schools.'
Talk for Writing support
We offer a range of support for schools using or wishing to introduce the Talk for Writing approach.
Opening Worlds
St Matthew's is a regional hub for the Opening Worlds, a knowledge-rich humanities programme for teaching history, geography and religion in Years 3 to 6 designed and written by Christine Counsell and Steve Mastin.

ELP
We are proud to be part of the Exemplary Leadership Programme (ELP). This programme enables participants of all settings to build and enact their school leadership knowledge in very specific domains:
1. Establishing and embedding exemplary behaviour and an exemplary school culture.
2. Working with line-managers and subject leaders to develop a knowledge rich curriculum.
3. Ensuring that curriculum is enacted powerfully, grounded in what we know works, and respecting subject disciplines.
Other cpd and training
We work in partnership with a small number of other organisations to offer excellent research-informed cpd for schools in the West Midlands and beyond.
