Headteacher's Welcome

We are justifiably proud of our school and our student's achievements, furthermore, their behaviour is excellent and they enjoy the learning experiences we provide. We work closely with CEFEL, and the UKLA, alongside a range of higher education institutions and many forward-thinking schools and teachers across the United Kingdom.

St Matthew’s C.E. Primary is a school with an ethic of excellence. Our aim is for all children to flourish, reach their potential and be happy during their time with us. We provide an exemplary learning environment rooted in Christian values, and as a Church of England school, we pride ourselves on our links with have with the Birmingham Diocese, St Martin’s, in the Bull Ring and our local Parish of Aston and Nechells.

At our school, we strive continually to provide learning of the highest quality. Year on year, the school has achieve high standards of attainment. Children leave the school well above the national expectation for reading, writing and maths.

We are servant leaders at St Matthew’s. This means that we always willingly to share our practice with others (across the country and the world), through our EEF Research School, Talk for Writing Training Centre and our role as an Exemplary Leadership School.

Our curriculum provides a broad range of experiences and opportunities. Children learn through distinct subject specific teaching and our leaders have ensured that our curriculum is broad and balanced and there is coherence within and across subjects.

We want children at St Matthew’s to have memorable lifelong learning and experience joy. I believe that our school is very special. It is a school to be proud of. With amazing teachers and support staff. As a result, children are proud of each other, proud of their teachers and leaders, proud of their school and proud of their families and community.

I am proud to serve as the Headteacher of St Matthew’s School. The prayer of my heart is for our school, wider community and the schools we support, to continue to thrive and flourish.
